Marshall Mckay's career in tribal government began in 1984. He is committed to cultural renewal and preservation, a focus he extends into education and sustainable land-use practices.
He is a founding member of the Native Arts & Cultures Foundation, board chair of the Autry National Center, and serves on the board of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian.
